ANOTHER Writing Workshop for the Actor and Devisor
with Erica J Brennan

Sunday 12 September via Zoom: 2:30pm-4:30pm

Australian Eastern Standard Time

Our August online skills share experiment was so well-received we are doing it again. Those who joined us for the last workshop can learn more strategies to deepen their practice. If this is your first time, simply explore entering into a writing practice that can be maintained even through a lockdown.

This gentle task-based workshop explores how to begin and sustain a writing practice that sustains YOU.

Participants will take part in writing tasks, both solo and collaborative, as part of this skill-sharing class. Ninefold member and devising artist Erica J Brennan shares some simple techniques for starting to write and continuing to write...whatever it is you want to blooming write.

You will:

  • Learn practical and actionable methods you can do at your own pace to achieve a first draft or a plot map of an idea.

  • Explore how writing can function as part of a robust performance practice and develop a lasting feeling of autonomy over your creative output.

This workshop focuses on writing tasks and strategies that will help you begin, reignite or go deeper into your solo-making process. Erica and Shy discuss how a strong solo practice as a devisor is key in creative ensemble work.

Erica also offers insight into the benefits gained as an actor by developing her skill with the quill and leveraging her interest in writing for live performance when devising with Ninefold.

NOTE: This Zoom session will be recorded for archival purposes and can be  made privately available by request to $9-$13 subscribers who can't make the session time.
